The Lies of Warren Buffett

Ever hear billionaire investor Warren Buffett say that he pays less tax than his secretary? Does he really? Is our federal income tax code so unfair that a man with money to burn pays less tax than a does a minimum wage worker? Consider this for a moment. If a single person makes $7.25 an hour, works 40 hours a week and works an entire year, he/she will have paid $1,159 in federal income tax. No small amount of money for someone who only makes around $15,000 a year. However, when that person files their taxes in 2020 for 2019, they can take the standard deduction of $12,200 which makes their taxable income only $2, 875 for the year. That person has more than overpaid their taxes for the year and now will see a refund of at least $872. Therefore, that worker only has an effective federal income tax rate of 1.91% In contrast, an attorney for example making $125,000 a year having taken the standard deduction of $12,200 will have paid $14,631 in federal income tax and possibly stil

The Russian Hack

Whether or not the Russian government hacked our 2016 election resulting in the election of Donald Trump is true, I only have one questions: why the outrage? Now, I am certainly not saying it is okay for Russia to do something like that. Far from it. However, is the United States really in any position to show moral indignation over a foreign government doing something like that to our democratic process when America in the past has literally assisted in the overthrow of democracies in order to install dictatorships? A prime example is Operation Ajax. People wonder why our relationship with the Islamic Republic of Iran is so turbulent. Well in 1953 the United States used the Central Intelligence Agency along with British intelligence (MI6) to overthrow the government of Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh in order to install a monarch named Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, also known as the Shah (King) And why did we do this? To make a long story short, Prime Minister Mosaddegh

The Misled Generation

I grew up on 300+ acre horse farm in Maryland. My Dad's employer was fairly well off. We had enough to get by, and maybe a little more once in a while for a trip somewhere. My parents never used credit cards. We had come back to America in 1975 and Dad paid cash for a 1967 Plymouth Valiant that had 53,000 miles on it (almost a death sentence for cars in that era, but the 225 cu in. Mopar engine never quit) $1,000 got us our family car that he drove from 1975 to 1990 when he finally took her off the road. We didn't have much, but like most families we dreamed of being rich. Dad went to the 8th grade and left Melbourne for Tasmania to ride steeplechase. He didn't learn a trade. He didn't become an entrepreneur in the traditional sense. And he didn't work for government. He entered a profession where you either prosper, or you scrape by. He scraped by. He could have done something else with his life. Nobody is forced to work in the horse game. But his income

Why does the Left hate?

The Left in America always preaches tolerance. They say that we all must be tolerant of our differences. But, have you seen the way they behave when your view on the world differs from theirs? Milo Yiannopoulos, a conservative blogger and provocateur, only wanted to speak. He wanted to speak on the campus of UC Berkeley just wanted to make a speech, take a few questions and maybe learn a little about other points of view and have the opportunity to maybe have someone learn from him as well. And what happened? All hell broke loose. The left-wing set the campus on fire and did $100,000.00 in damage to a public institution of higher learning. Why? Why did this happen? Was Milo a member of the Ku Klux Klan? Was he an member of the American Nazi Party? Was he in favor of separation of the races? Or was he even anti-Gay? What caused such an uproar? What caused otherwise perfectly rational human beings to destroy public property and prevent someone from exercising their free speech?

"Ask not what your country can do for you" to "What can the government steal and give to me?"

What happened to the Democrat Party? Yes, the party of Harry Truman and John F. Kennedy. THAT party. What happened to it? Democrats and Republicans always had areas where they disagreed. But for the most part, even though they disagreed about how to get things done, they agreed upon what the issue was. Having said that, could someone tell me how we went from asking what we could do to help our country to asking what free benefit some politician is going to offer me so that I will vote for them? The Democrats have become the party of degeneracy, protecting illegal aliens and playing class warfare. Would John Kennedy or Harry be proud of the people leading the party? Would they relate to Senator Harris? Former Vice-President Biden Would he agree with wanting to shut down the government agency that protects our borders? Would he be in favor of wanting to take away the 2nd Amendment rights of Americans? Would he think that promising healthcare funded by tax payers to illegal aliens

Is Diversity Really Our Strength?

Liberals always tell us that they value diversity because it is a source of strength. Even former Vice-President Biden bragged about how the United States would very soon be a place where white people (aka, people of European ancestry, aka the founding culture of this nation) would soon be a minority in America. He said we should celebrate that. Really? If you change the demographics of a country, you change the culture. And if the culture of a nation is the reason why it is successful, why would you want to change it? Couldn't it be more likely that we are a great nation not because of our diversity, but in spite of it because of our constitution? Our constitution by law protects everyone's right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness regardless of immutable characteristics. Under our constitution, a person fresh off the boat from the most impoverished part of the world, and without a dime in his pocket has the same rights as a person who descends from the oldes

Conservatives are biased and liberals are open-minded and inclusive?

Being conservative isn’t about being biased towards anyone at all. Being a conservative is about giving everyone an equal opportunity. What liberals hate is that being conservative isn’t about taking blame or making excuses for unequal outcomes. Liberals are the ones who make assumptions about people based on immutable characteristic. This is evident by the way they are CONSTANTLY injecting race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity and even age into the conversation. They are relentless in their efforts to give special rights and afford special treatment and recognition to people based on things that can’t be changed. They push for scholarships and quotas for people they feel are “underrepresented” in educational institutions and employment. They even believe in lowering standards for everyone other than men of European ancestry.   It’s liberals who make assumptions and play into stereotypes. Liberals are enraged when they learn that a person of color is a member of t

Is it really socialism?

You hear about Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez talking about “democratic socialism” and how it’s working in countries like Sweden. Well, they’re wrong. First and foremost you have to understand that Sweden isn’t a socialist country. Sweden’s government doesn’t own the means of productions. Sweden’s government doesn’t manufacture cars or own other industries. Yes, Sweden does have very high taxes on income earners and spends a lot on social services. But that isn’t socialism. Call it theft, call it altruism in its finest form. Call it what you like, but it isn’t socialism. In a real socialist country the means of producing goods and services is all owned and controlled by the government. Cuba is probably the best example I can think of where the government tries to make everyone equal. The unintended outcome of this is that it only succeeds in making everyone in Cuba equally poor (unless you are Raul Castro with an estimated net worth of over $100,000,000.00)

The rich don't pay their taxes?

Remember back in 1991-1992 when Bill Clinton was running for President of the United States and claimed in the 1980s the rich in America didn't pay their "fair share"? I wonder why then President Bush didn't correct the record. The top 1% of income earners in America pay around 38% of the total income tax bill. The top 10% of income earners in America pay nearly 60% of the income tax bill. And guess how much of the federal income tax bill is paid for by the bottom 50% of income earners? Yep! Less than 3%. So, is the claim that the rich skip out on their taxes and the middle class gets stuck supporting this country really true? I hardly think so.

Healthcare is a right.

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders says that healthcare is a right. Think about that for a minute? Think about what a right is. The First Amendment says that you have a right to free speech and to print your ideas and distribute them. It also says that you have the right to practice your religion. It doesn't however say anywhere in it that the government has to provide you with a platform to speak, it doesn't say that people have to listen to you and it certainly doesn't mean that the government has to build you a house of worship. The rights in the constitution are restrictions on government. They are not concessions made to the people by the government. Nobody is required to be a doctor in the United States. They literally could all quit tomorrow morning. What would we do then? Would Bernie then demand that those who are licensed to practice medicine be conscripted into involuntary service like the military draft of yesteryear? No Bernie, healthcare is a for-profit ind
